Study Leave in UAE

Study leave is considered a medium for professional development that includes both formal and informal education and tools for employees to increase their labor skills. The goal of study leave is to provide employees the time they need to pursue a course of study, training, or research that will help them reach their full potential.

The UAE has agreed to incorporate paid study leave in the country’s newly updated labour laws because it recognizes the importance of education in a worker’s profession and overall development.

According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE), Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 has been introduced to govern employment practices and labor law in the United Arab Emirates.

The current UAE Labor Law has been completely replaced by the New UAE Labor Law, which took effect on February 2, 2022. With the implementation of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, study leave became a reality.

If a worker is enrolled in one of the accredited educational institutions in the UAE, they are eligible for a 10-day paid leave of absence to write an examination. To be eligible for study leave, an employee must have worked for the firm for at least two years.

The UAE places high importance on education as a method of developing its business community and economy. Employers shouldn’t try to deter personnel from continuing their education because doing so can dampen their excitement and subsequently reduce their output at workplace. Making sure workers are satisfied and motivated as well as catering to their needs can motivate them to deliver their best.
